Scott Bradford: Off on a Tangent

Eventful Few Days

Posted February 1, 2010 9:25pm ET

So it’s been an eventful several days. First, Vincent—our youngest cat—had a repeat of his October issues and ran up another almost-$1,000 vet bill. Joy. He spent the night with the vet on Friday.

Melissa had to work downtown on Saturday. On the way there it started to snow, which quickly accumulated on the roads. By the time I had dropped her off in D.C. there was an inch or so on the ground, and I saw a lot of spun-out cars along the way back. Of course, you don’t spin out (even in accumulating snow) if you drive safely, so I was fine. The Subaru is an excellent car in the snow. It handled beautifully.

Despite the conditions, I had a lot to get done. I took out a ton of recyclables, went to the bank, retrieved the cat, and so on all in the middle of a snowstorm. Yes, I tempted fate. No, I didn’t have any trouble. Once again, a little snow is no problem for a safe, careful driver.

On Sunday we went to Mass (of course), switched to Verizon Wireless and got new, awesome Palm phones, and picked up a very large safe from WalMart. Then, early this morning, we went to Dulles Airport to meet Wes & Sonya coming back from Ethiopia with their two adopted children. Congrats to the new parents!

Now, if you’ll excuse me, I’ll be going to sleep for the next few days.

Wow! That does sound like a busy weekend! I hope you get some rest after all that!

Poor Vincent! And yikes, he’s getting expensive! Hopefully his “problem” will stop… for his sake and yours!

Glad Wes and Sonya made it back safely with the kids!
