Rice to be Nominated for Secretary of State

President Bush will nominate National Security Advisor Condoleezza Rice to become the next Secretary of State, reports the Associated Press. This news comes after current Secretary of State Colin Powell announced earlier today that he will resign from the office.

This new announcement comes amid an ongoing series of resignations and appointments as part of the Bush administration’s reshuffling for a second term. Six members of the President’s cabinet have announced their resignations over the last week, and Rice will be the second new appointment.
