Progress Has Passed Metrobus By

I have spent a fair amount of time on this site over the years calling attention to the Post’s excellent exposés on endemic mismanagement and other troubles at the Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority (WMATA, ‘Metro’). Most of those pieces, however, have focused on the MetroRail train system and ignored the MetroBus bus system.

MetroBus has been so bad that many cities and counties have found it more cost effective to start their own bus services than to pay [and pray] for MetroBus to expand and improve theirs. That’s why the area is a maze of overlapping systems—MetroBus, D.C. Circulator, Fairfax [County] Connector, Fairfax [City] CUE, Arlington ART, and Alexandria DASH to name only a few.

MetroBus is more proof of WMATA’s sheer incompetence, and I’m glad the Post is bringing it to light.
