Heinlein, Robert A.—Job: A Comedy of Justice

Behold, happy is the man who God correcteth; therefore despise not thou the chastening of the Almighty—Job 5:17.

But, despite what my gut told me right then, I wrote out a check on-the-spot for $25—only subtracting half of what he’d demanded because that was how much it would cost to change the locks. (He had given keys out to at least four different people, and has still not returned any of them except his own.)
