Well, my respect for my school just got bumped down another notch.
On Tuesday, I have lots of classes. I have Religion at 9:00, Intro Journalism at 10:30, Management of Information Systems at 1:30, Computers and Communication at 4:30, and Gov’t and Politics in the Middle East and North Africa at 7:20.
Once upon a time, somebody came up with a system of versioning for software. The first public release of a program would be version 1.0. Minor revisions to that version would be 1.1, 1.2, 1.3, etc. Major updates would cycle to the next number, like 2.0.
Last night, President George W. Bush gave the 2004 State of the Union address to a joint session of congress. If you missed the speech (as I did—damned classes!) you should go ahead and read both the President’s address and the Democratic response today.
In my review of Ray Bradbury’s “Fahrenheit 451,” I said that “Fahrenheit” was probably more realistic than George Orwell’s 1949 masterpiece, “1984.” But what “1984” lacks in believability, it makes up for in depth and in brilliance.
